Reporting to the Ticketing and Box Office Manager, the Box Office Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of VIFF’s festival box office. This includes training and scheduling an amazing team of cashiers and supporting our team during the festival operations. The goal of our department is to give our customers and guests the best festival experience that we can deliver!




  • 2 years of experience in customer service;
  • Proven experience working with Elevent or other ticketing systems;
  • Proven experience training and supervising large groups of employees;
  • 2 years of experience working in festivals and events;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, and the ability to speak in front of large groups;
  • The ability to adapt to a constantly changing work environment;
  • Comfort with modern technology (tablets, laptops, scanners, smart phones);
  • Experience working with volunteers.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assisting with the cashier recruiting process, including interviewing, training and onboarding cashiers;
  • Attending festival venue site visits and assisting with box office and Exhibitions set up as required;
  • Administrating cashier payroll; ensuring timesheets are submitted on schedule;
  • Effectively communicating VIFF policies related to customer service, cash handling, and general operations;
  • Completing box office sales reconciliation reports;
  • Updating, coordinating and administrating established VIFF cashier training program in collaboration with Exhibitions Leadership Team;
  • Providing ongoing support for cashiers and venue managers during festival operations;
  • Attending customer service and operational meetings;
  • Overseeing pre-festival box office operations;
  • Completing required volunteer reviews and orientations;
  • Problem solving customer service and box office (Elevent) related issues;
  • Providing excellent customer service;
  • Establishing a positive, inclusive, and team-focused environment.
