The key responsibilities of this position will include:
- Attending community events in the Edmonton and surrounding area to share information about opportunities to volunteer with children and youth.
- Providing information to potential volunteers to learn about the variety of agency programs available and align the information with volunteer interests and programming needs.
- Walking volunteers through the enrolment process and encouraging them to apply.
- Delivering messages that promote the need for mentors in the lives of children and youth.
- Supporting orientation sessions with volunteers related to program guidelines and expectations.
- Completing any required documentation and other required reporting.
The successful candidate will have:
- In progress a diploma or degree in a related field i.e. Business, Marketing, Volunteer Management
- Minimum of 1-2 years of previous experience in the marketing or volunteer management sector.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Energy, enthusiasm and a passion to speak to others about BGCBigs volunteer opportunities.
- The ability to make presentations to groups of adults and to speak publicly, whether directly or indirectly (on camera) to an audience.
- The ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Availability in July and August for up to 20 hours per week. A schedule will be provided for the months of July and August to attend events during the day, early evening and weekends.
- A clear Security Clearance Check and Child Welfare Record Check no more than 6 months old are conditions of hire.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle as events will be throughout the City of Edmonton and surrounding area and will require transporting a banner and table display.
