House next door society enables individuals with mental illness in their recovery, by developing skills for healthy living within safe supported housing options

House Next Door Society (HNDS) is a not for profit charitable agency operating interim supportive housing and community supports in the City of Edmonton for adults in the process of  recovery with a mental illness. This competition is being used to fill stand up overnight positions in a residential care project focused on supporting emerging adults living with an eating disorder. Previous experience or education in eating disorders required.

The successful candidate will be an part of our residential support team reporting to the Program Manager. Duties to include, but not limited to: 

client supports including crisis intervention, documentation, activities related to facility operations, assisting program participants with daily living skill development towards sustainable community living.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Minimum Diploma or Degree in related Health Sciences discipline combined with 2+ years of experience in community mental health services. Equivalencies and/or combinations may be considered. 
• Valid First Aid and CPR accreditation 

 KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 

• Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness. 
• Knowledge of eating disorders and symptoms. 
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. 
• Basic computer literacy to operate computerized resident care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software. 
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position 
• Ability to demonstrate and assist residents with activities of daily living. 
• Ability to resolve conflicts and provide crisis intervention. 
• Ability to observe and recognize changes in residents. 
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport with residents 

 HOURS OF WORK 

Weekend shift work, three vacancies currently. Alternative combinations will be considered.

WAGE 

• As per HSAA collective agreement

RC1 start 17.70
