THE OPPORTUNITY

Job Summary

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Program Assistants will work as part of an integrated services team responsible for providing day-to-day support, direct assistance, supervision, and monitoring of residents. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in the team’s planning and implementation of quality improvement projects such as evaluating customer needs, improving services, and implementing new service strategies.
• Participate in working through team issues.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new staff in the integrated services model combining clinical addiction, housing, employment, and educational services.
• Seek out professional development opportunities and share knowledge including attending staff meetings, educational events and mentoring junior staff. 
• Administrative tasks such as
  • Photocopying
  • Assisting with case documentation
  • Database entries
  • Filing
  • Preparing new client files
  • Professionally answering phones

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications

• Two year diploma from a post-secondary education and training relevant to the addiction treatment field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Preference will be given to those with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the addiction services field within a community setting, assisting those affected by substance misuse, concurrent disorders, unemployment, a lack of education, criminal justice involvement, homelessness and poverty-related issues to become active participants in the social, economic and cultural life of the community.
• Ability to apply trauma-informed practices to clinical care
• Strong collaborative approach to delivering and developing programs and services
• Proven communication and conflict resolution skills
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Effectively communicate professionally, verbally and written in English
• Current Tuberculosis Screening Certificate
• Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems
• Current First Aid/CPR
• Criminal Records check for working with vulnerable populations
