Collège Éducacentre, the only French College in British Columbia, is looking for a clinical instructor. The College offers a wide variety of college courses and programs tailored to the needs of the labor market, including Health Care Attendant program, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to work effectively. 


Our College program was reviewed and approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training.


HCA programs in BC require students to do a minimum of 270 hours of practice education experience including 150 hours of instructor-led clinical placement hours.

  • Hourly rate: $40/h to $50/h with travel and accommodation expenses covered depending on the location of the course.
  • Location: British Columbia and/or Yukon
  • Working hours: 1 to 4 internships per year for a duration of 150 hours per internship (4 weeks) 
  • Start date: to be determined
  • BCCNM registration : paid for by the College


  • The clinical instructor provides 150 hours of direct supervision and evaluation time of students.
  • The work must be provided in a multi-level or complex care facility, including specialized dementia care.
  • The clinical instructor helps to establish appropriate workloads, tailored to each student, to ensure and optimize progress and avoid unnecessary difficulties.
  • He works closely with the institution's staff and supervisor to establish progress and adjustments.
  • The clinical instructor is expected to guide the practice of the HCA student(s) to ensure appropriate care is provided to the assigned clients/residents. 
  • He provides daily pre-shift briefings and end of shift de-briefings.
  • He fills all required documentation to track and document student(s) progress.
  • He keeps track of the student(s) hours during the clinical placement.
  • The clinical instructor will promptly report back to the Collège teacher, if unexpected difficulties arise with any student.
  • He also expected to provide feedback to the College teacher on the student's performance. 
  • He shares his knowledge and resources with the student.
  • The clinical instructor makes arrangements with host facilities.

Qualifications and Education

  • Current full registration with the BCCNM ((British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives). Collège Éducacentre is ready to help with financing and administrative procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (i.e. Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education or equivalent teaching experience).
  • Two years or more of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1400 hours) with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings. 
  • Nursing work experience to include: 
  • Experience in working with older adults with complex health needs
  • Experience or orientation in home support and multi-level/complex care
