Position: Customized Employment Specialist – Permanent, full-time

Location: Specialized Employment Services- Cloverdale  

Hours: 38 hours per week- Flexible schedule

We are looking for an Employment Specialist to join our Sources team! This individual must be a self-starter, possess strong professional networking skills and knowledgeable with support strategies for individual with diverse abilities.

Reporting to the Community Inclusion Services Manager, the Customized Employment Specialist will provide employment training and development, supported job search and placement services to persons with disabilities, including discovery, developing employment profiles, working collaboratively with the case management team and clients’ personal supports to develop employment plans and client portfolios. The Customized Employment Specialist has a key role undertaking marketing activities and working with employers to create work experience and jobs that match the clients’ interests, abilities and skill sets and results in paid employment opportunities for clients.

General Responsibilities:

  • Working with individuals with diverse abilities and their personal supports to obtain meaningful paid employment
  • Develop contacts and job leads and facilitate positive relationships with employers to ensure mutually beneficial opportunities, striving to inform and educate employers in respect to ‘Inclusive Hiring.’
  • Provide direct on the job support as required; job coaching, monitoring and follow up with both client and employer, facilitating coordination of supports and ensuring natural supports are established as necessary in the interest of promoting employment maintenance and successful employment outcomes.
  • Maintain a computerized case management system (ICM) for recordkeeping and contracting purposes and ensure documentation that complies with contracting obligations of funders.

 

 

Program Specific Responsibilities:

  • Managing client caseload with the support of the Community Inclusion Manager
  • Ability to plan, implement and schedule program requirements successfully
  • Maintain client service and statistical data as required by industry standards, Sources, CLBC, and all other regulatory bodies as it pertains to customized and supported employment and forward monthly submissions to the Program Manager using an established reporting format
  • Maintain regular contact with service providers, training facilities, employers, and approved personal contacts/ supports to monitor client progress.

Qualifications:

  • Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and central data systems
  • Genuine interest in supporting persons with disabilities with a result-oriented focus.
  • Knowledge of and /or experience in Customized Employment/ Job Development, preferred.
  • An undergraduate degree or diploma or appropriate combination of education and experience in community support, social services, and/or employment/career development field.
  • Minimum 2 years direct experience in the employment services field; employment counselling, case management and/or job development, and preferably working with persons with disabilities preferred.
  • Effectively communicate professionally, verbally and written in English
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training (Training may be accessed through Sources)
  • Criminal Records check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review
  • Program Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and driver's abstract
  • Use of personal vehicle and business insurance (mileage and insurance top-up reimbursed by Sources)
  • Fully Vaccination and QR code provided

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: $23.10 to start
