Kinsight is an accredited non-profit organization. We work alongside families of children, youth and adults with developmental delays or disabilities to support growth, development and personal well-being. We work with hundreds of community members and professionals to welcome and include all people, and foster vibrant and healthy communities. We serve the communities of New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. Our mission is to provide options and opportunities for people to have meaningful relationships and fulfilling lives.
Kinsight is seeking a Guide
Kinsight is one of five organizations across the province that has successfully completed a pilot of a brand new service for adults with developmental disabilities called ‘Life’. We are excited to be embedding ‘Life’ within our array of permanent adult service offerings. We are looking for a brand new kind of person to help Guide the on-going development and delivery of Participants’ ‘Life’ service experience. The Guide works closely with people who use the service to co-design, deliver, evaluate and continually improve the effectiveness of the service. ‘Life’ focuses on a blend of supports aimed at assisting people to achieve their ambitions related to employment, community connection and lifelong learning. ‘Life’ service strategies incorporate the development and strengthening of informal support networks and personal skill and confidence enhancement.
We think the Guide is someone who would describe themselves like this…
“I have a knack for unconventional problem solving and huge reservoir of ideas I am eager to share. I am pretty up to date on all the current best practices around supporting people to connect in community, expand their informal support circles and find work, and yet I am ready to push forward and invent the next best practices. My knowledge, experience and insights fuel my forward movement rather than anchor me in place.
And, I am happy with a flexible work schedule based within Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland. I have my degree/diploma in social services and a few years experience working with people with disabilities. I have my own vehicle, a good driving record and am happy to use my car for work. I am savvy with technology and comfortable connecting with others virtually and I have a clean criminal record .
And, I have the energy and optimism to start something new!
Does that sound like you?
If so, please apply and include a cover letter and resume.
