Collaborate with existing organizations that support francophone organizations to promote dialogue and capacity-building resources to enhance francophone service delivery for newcomers. The Francophone Engagement Manager will provide support to the B.C.’s francophone settlement and integration service providers through developing francophone settlement specific content for AMSSA’s activities and resources. In addition, the Francophone Engagement Manager aims to empower the Anglophone sector to support the francophone integration pathway. The Francophone Engagement Manager works closely with the AMSSA’s Settlement and Integration Program Manager and Language Program Manager as well as the Settlement and Integration Services team and other team members.

Hours & location:

A 35-hour / week combination of remote work and work from AMSSA’s office located at 4445 Norfolk Street, Burnaby BC.


$33.88 / hour

Eligible for benefits after three months


Contract: July 15, 2022 – March 31, 2024 with possibility of extension

  • Participates in collaborative discussions with the francophone indirect service provider and attends their regular meetings with direct service providers when invited.
  • Provides support to francophone organizations and French settlement service providers through capacity building resources and events.
  • Liaise and build relationships with francophone settlement service providers, francophone-service delivery programs and pilots.
  • Collaborate with the francophone indirect service provider to develop resources that aim to empower the anglophone sector to support the francophone integration pathway.
  • Liaise with francophone settlement service providers for participation in AMSSA’s capacity building and sector support resources, meetings and events as appropriate.
  • Curates and organizes weekly francophone settlement related Settlement Net content.
  • Prepares bilingual (French and English) communications and materials where necessary.
  • Develops relationships with experts in the settlement and integration field to deliver AMSSA activities.
  • Provides inputs to the AMSSA team on francophone and French-speakers’ needs for AMSSA activities as required.
  • Ensures all settlement and integration support programming activities including e-learning courses are aligned with AMSSA program goals, objectives and policies.
  • Work with the AMSSA team on additional and emerging projects as required.
  • Coordinates and develops the content for service provider meetings and other in-person, hybrid and online capacity building activities including developing the content, securing guest speakers and overseeing the event logistics in conjunction with the settlement and integration team.
  • Uses surveys, evaluations and interaction with service providers to generate content for convening, information sharing, and networking activities
  • Facilitates meetings, online activities and other ad hoc events as needed
  • Ensures that settlement support programming activities are aligned with contract expectations and funder expectations.
  • Write reports and meeting minutes as required.
  • Participate in external working groups and committees where relevant
  • Work with the AMSSA team on additional and emerging projects as required


  • Post-secondary degree (graduate or undergraduate) in a relevant discipline, 3 - 5 years of work experience; OR, a combination of education, training, and experience that is relevant to this field of work.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in a managerial role in the not-for-profit, human services, academic or public sector.
  • Understand the specific context, needs and challenges the B.C. Francophone Settlement and Integration sector and francophone newcomers face in their settlement journey.
  • Knowledge of the Government of Canada’s IRCC’s Francophone Integration Strategy, Francophone Integration Pathway, Welcoming Francophone Communities Initiative and understanding of the Canada Official Languages Act.
  • Experience working with and leading committees or working groups and facilitating meetings.
  • Strong project management experience and skills including well-developed organization, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with relevant stakeholders (Francophone Settlement Organizations and stakeholders).
  • Ability to work independently, while being a collaborative and communicative team member.
  • Excellent time and resource management techniques.
  • Adaptive and responsive in a dynamic work environment and with shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Experience in research including researching information to develop resource materials.
  • Excellent active listening, team-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current technological teaching tools and online platforms: Zoom, GoToMeeting, MS Teams.
  • Group presentation and/or facilitation skills whether face-to-face or through online platforms like Zoom, GoToMeeting, MS Teams.
  • Proficient with a variety of software and applications: Office 365 including: Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint; Constant Contact and database management tools; Google Documents and Spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work and communicate fluently in both French and English languages.
