The Edmonton Humane Society has been an animal welfare leader in the Edmonton community since 1907. We are a safe haven for thousands of animals in our care each year. EHS plays a key role in the Edmonton region by enriching the lives of people and their companion animals not only through our sheltering, but through our programs, services and community engagement.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Communication & Education, the Humane Educator is a member of the Humane Education team working alongside the Supervisor, Humane Education. They will lead the Humane Education programming for the organization and are responsible for the development and delivery of educational curriculum and materials which focus on Humane Education related topics. This includes teaching kindness, compassion, and empathy towards animals, by increasing knowledge of companion animal care and welfare, while raising awareness for the work EHS does.
EHS connects people and companion animals through advocacy, education and community engagement and the work of Humane Education directly supports this mission.

Skills & Abilities
As the ideal candidate, you will have a passion for people, performance and diversity within lens of animal welfare. You have excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. You are highly organized with strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities a fluctuating workload.
In addition, you will possess strong aptitude for public speaking and comfortable presenting in front of large audiences of all ages; ability to exercise tact, good judgment and build relationships while upholding high standards of performance and accountability and have an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation/Hours
Compensation: EHS offers a competitive not-for-profit compensation package which includes a comprehensive benefits package, and a strong work-life balance.
Hours: 40 hours a week; however, is expected to work hours as required to fulfill department responsibilities. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
