HR Generalist
The chosen candidate will play a key role in the success of RCT by applying their skills in the areas of policy/procedure implementation, performance management, full-cycle recruitment, employee recognition as well as other Human Resources related programs and services.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the development of a robust performance management system for roll out to all staff and support the annual review cycle
Support the recruitment process by creating and updating job descriptions, posting jobs, screening resumes, conducting interviews, performing reference checks, new hire orientation and on-boarding activities
Assist in the development and implementation of an Employee Handbook encompassing HR policies and procedures as per regulatory and legislative requirements, health & safety, performance measurement and provide training and guidance to staff
Assist with the establishment and coordination of an in-house employee training system, including training needs assessment, management development, and the tracking and measurement of training impact
Support management in creating and implementing programs to help improve employee retention
Coordinate with leadership the development of employee recognition programs
Ensure all personnel and other filing systems are accurate and up-to-date including preparing general correspondence, memos, employee plans and reports as required
Maintain personnel record management by tracking: time & attendance, vacation, personal, emergency, sick and unpaid leaves etc.
Interact daily with management and employees to ensure an open line of communication is maintained to identify and address any Human Resource related issues, needs and concerns as they arise
Conduct investigations regarding discrimination, sexual harassment, diversity and employee disputes
Coordinate annual staff events in collaboration with the Leadership team
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual metrics and reports, as required
Keep abreast of trends and changes in legislation related to Human Resources and Employment law and follow best practices
Qualifications
BA/BS in Human Resources
5 – 8 years working in a progressive HR generalist position, CHRP completed or in progress
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Health & Safety, AODA, Human Rights and Employment Standards regulations
Strong understanding and knowledge of Human Resources Management processes/policies and best practices
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: competence in creating spreadsheets, presentations, reports and statistics
High degree of accuracy and detail-oriented, with the ability to set priorities
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional manner, including demonstrated tact, diplomacy, discretion and cultural sensitivity
Experience creating and delivering presentations and workshops, an asset
Solid understanding of, and commitment to, requirements for privacy and confidentiality with regards to personal information
Experience working in a unionized environment, as asset
