We are excited to be hiring another Shared Living Program Coordinator for our program!

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Shared Living Program Coordinator, you will be assisting adults with a developmental disability and their families/networks to find long-term, mutually satisfying living arrangements that focus on relationships, personal growth, independence, and participation in the community. This includes ensuring the quality of current shared living settings, the satisfaction of persons served and their support networks, as well as overseeing the recruitment, screening, selection, monitoring, and evaluation of all independent contractors. The Shared Living Coordinator will also be responsible for promoting new and creative individualized options.

You will lead and support practice development both within the team and with providers and will provide coaching and mentoring to staff and providers alike. In order to ensure that the Coordinator has the opportunity to establish and maintain direct involvement with individuals receiving Shared Living services, you will also be responsible for maintaining a caseload. You will ensure that good joint working practices are established and maintained with other internal and external groups.

The role will function as an integral member of the services team, working with personnel across Adult Services and Family and Children’s Services to guide the growth and development of the program to respond to residential service requests, identified needs in the community, and transition planning with adults and youth turning 19.

The successful candidate will have excellent relationship-building and networking skills, a person-centred planning approach, be able to work independently, and possess the written and verbal communication skills to liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including people receiving services, family members, shared living providers and funders.

Be part of the solution, be active in working towards our mission - Everyone's welcome. Everyone belongs. Everywhere.

BEING A SHARED LIVING PROGRAM COORDINATOR:

A typical day in the life of a Shared Living Coordinator does not really exist. Every day is a bit different with new challenges and many rewards. You have the ability to create a perfect blend of working with the individuals in Shared Living, meeting with and coaching providers, brainstorming any challenges that come up, all while being an integral part of the success stories, which there are many. If you enjoy building relationships with people and getting creative with solutions, this is the role for you!

In the role of Shared Living Program Coordinator, you will be on the go, going between meetings with providers and people served. Helping with the onboarding of new providers, and meeting with extended support networks of the folks we support. Every day is new, every placement is exciting, every success story leaves you feeling a great sense of pride for the work and for the individual who has taken that leap to their next chapter. Being able to work with people in their natural environments gives you the opportunity to help them lead their best most successful lives all the while getting to see their lives as a whole, and not just a part of the day.

If you are goal-oriented and forward-thinking you will enjoy the role of Shared Living Program Coordinator. At Kinsight we make it a priority to work with providers to assist them in working themselves out of a job. A Shared Living home is not just a place to stay, it's a stepping stone for the individuals - a way for them to gain the independence and skills they need to eventually move out on their own. When you get to work with people hands-on and in a meaningful way, assist them in their goals, work with the providers to help them navigate ways to teach the various skills needed for someone to live independently... and then are there to see that happen, it's a feeling like no other. Shared Living gives you the opportunity to work alongside community members and CLBC to help develop and create meaningful lives for people where they truly feel a sense of belonging.
