What you will do:  The Social Worker supports the mental health needs of Job Skills clients and staff through the following activities:

 

Client Support

  • Interview/assess clients to understand their needs
  • Meet with clients one on one or in groups to provide counsel to assist them in developing life skills
  • Contact and make referrals for assistance for clients
  • Assess individual, group, and family needs of clients
  • Coordinate the facilitation of clients’ individual support networks
  • Liaise between client, family members and employers
  • Update program team members on client issues
  • Act as a resource to program staff to assist in resolving client issues
  • Maintain accurate records and prepares reports
  • Engage and operate within Job Skills’ policies and procedures

 

Staff Support

  • Create a menu of virtual and in-person professional development, wellness and stress management tools and crisis intervention resources for staff
  • Facilitate a platform for staff to interact in groups and individually, in person and virtually, to confidentially engage, discuss strategies and facilitate solutions
  • Provide counselling to staff to assist in identifying sources of stress or problems, strengthening coping skills and finding effective solutions
  • Establish positive, trusting rapport with staff
  • Refer to outside specialists or agencies when necessary
  • Consult with Senior Management, staff and HR to determine staff needs and opportunities

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum education requirement is a Master’s Degree in Social Work and registered member of the OCSWSSW
  • 3-5 years of experiecounsellingling individuals and groups, specializing in stress management and mental health and workplace wellness
  • Minimum 2-4 Years experience in the Social Service sector
