The Program
The Central Staffing Office team is building a 24/7 float pool of casual/on-call employees who will be cross-trained to work in multiple programs to cover short-term absences in WJS Canada's social services programs across British Columbia (with future support covering Alberta and Ontario as well).

The Position
Working remotely from a BC home-based office, the Staffing Specialist supports the Central Staffing Office with interviewing/hiring, pre-start documentation (including reference checks, security clearances, etc.) and guiding new casual/on-call hires through the onboarding process.

In Your Role You Will
Be responsible for the full-cycle recruitment process.
• Recruit/source from our ATS qualified Residence Workers, Youth Workers and other social services applicants who can be scheduled to work a variety of casual, on-call shifts in multiple programs within commuting distance
• Promote WJS to prospective employees by using databases, social media platforms, and professional networks
• Review resumes/prescreen suitable applicants
• Interview candidates to assess skills, experience, and cultural fit
• Conduct reference checks
• Guide new hires in completing pre-start documentation and onboarding requirements
• Advise/assist candidates in obtaining mandatory security clearances (MCFD, HUB and criminal record checks)
• Assist the BC HR Manager in developing procedures for standardized employee orientation program.
• Backfill, when needed, recruitment team with writing and posting jobs
• Other related duties as assigned to support HR objectives and purpose of the organization.

*** Prior to confirmation of employment all applicants must provide a current (dated within 6 months of hiring date) Criminal Record Check and Ministry Check. These checks can take up to 6 weeks to obtain, please ensure you prepare accordingly.

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
• 1+ year experience in a high volume, fast-paced recruitment environment
• Diploma/Degree in Human Resources
• Other combinations of experience and education will be considered
• Solid knowledge of Human Resources best practices and recruitment procedures
• Experience with applicant tracking software (ATS) systems
• A passion for supporting new hires through creating a positive onboarding/new hire experience
• Recruitment experience that includes resume screens, interviews and reference checks
• Collective agreements/unionized environment experience
• Experience pre-start/onboarding new employees
• Data management, documentation and organizational skills
• Self-awareness with the ability to remain calm and focused during times of increased pressure
