About SKETCH

SKETCH is a community-arts-development initiative based in Toronto engaging young people homeless and on the margins, ages 16-29, from across Canada. SKETCH creates equitable opportunities for diverse young people to experience the transformative power of the arts; to develop their leadership and self-sufficiency, and cultivate social and environmental change through the arts.

Position Summary

The Rental Host will be responsible to ensure all SpaceShare Users are supported, the facility is secure and that all health and safety processes are in place. Facilitated and supported by the Executive Director, the Rental Host will ensure the following items are completed and act as the facility main contact, for the duration of their shift. 

Work Schedule would be - Monday to Friday , 4 pm to 9 pm and Saturdays - 9 am to 5 pm

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Studio & Event Bookings

• Ensure the facility is set up prior to rental client(s) arrival – spaces have all items they are supposed to;
• Welcome rental client and conduct a facility walkthrough;
• Support rental bookings as needed – providing a helping hand if required;
• Ensure applicable guidelines are followed;
• Basic administration for day of booking;
• Final walkthrough of facility post rental;
• Conduct a final facility walkthrough to secure space prior to departure.

Event Specific Booking

• Confirm security staff arrives as per booking;
• All booking with alcohol on site abides by the SOP requirements;
• Collect the Certificate of Insurance – if needed;
• Confirm all hired staff area fulfil their contracted duties.

General Duties

• Enthusiastically provide rental information to any client or guest on site;
• Direct all potential new customers to our online booking system;
• Complete a daily log for all shifts;
• Adjust security systems as needed;
• Tidy, clean and rearrange furnishings and miscellaneous arts materials as needed;
• Sign out and collect keycards as needed;
• Contribute to creating and maintaining an inspiring, inclusive, welcoming and safe shared space.

Other

• Follows policies and procedures and Health & Safety standards and works in a safe manner;
• Follows all protocols.
  
  

Credential Required:

• Exceptional customer service skills;
• Proven problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication skills possess patience and effective conflict resolution;
• Strong people skills, able to enforce guidelines as needed;
• A general understanding of facility operations;
• Ability to coordinate the day of event details, considering all individuals onsite – rental client, building staff, SKETCH community, and the public;
• Attentive to details and able to generate a daily report;
• Must be available weekends and evenings;
• Over 19 years of age;
• Smart serve certification;
• A police check will be required;
• Event planning – an asset;
• Security experience – an asset;
• Knowledge of First Aid.
