Rate of Pay: $21.63- $25.19

Union Position: Yes

Driver’s Licence Required:  Class 4 restricted

Use of Own Vehicle Required? no

Hours of Work per Week: 15 hours/week

Saturday 10:00 am - 5:30 pm

Sunday 10:00 am - 5:30 pm

Goals and Responsibilities of the Position:

• Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Residential Care Worker provides a comfortable home environment in which individuals with intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to live active and fulfilling lives.
• Works as part of a team to ensure that individuals achieve personally meaningful goals for independence, community access, and skill development.
• Respects each individual’s right to privacy and confidentiality
• Supports individuals to become self-sufficient in all areas of daily living
• Maintains a safe and healthy environment for those you support, for your co-workers and for yourself
• General administration, report writing, record keeping, and accountability of funds

Requirements for the Position:

• Certificate in human services or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
• Minimum of six months of relevant experience in a similar environment
• Experience with challenging behaviours, mental health concerns and delivery of personal care
• Knowledge of Diabetes, Dementia, special diets and mechanical lifts may be required
• Criminal record check, Valid First Aid and Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification, Medical Approval, TB Clearance, satisfactory Reference Checks, Reliable Vehicle and valid BC driver’s license - Class 4
