Reporting to the IT & Facilities Coordinator, Festival Technical Support is responsible for assisting with the cleaning, testing, configuration and set-up of box office equipment (pin pads, Boca printers, laptops, Internet Smart Hubs), the set-up of internet and computer equipment at VIFF’s ancillary office, and basic level 1 user end technical support. This position is approximately 4 days a week for pre and post festival, must be fully available for support during festival operating hours between Sept 29th and October 9th.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Proven experience working in a technical support role;
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP protocols, port-forwarding, and LAN configuration;
  • Experience working in a festival or event-focused environment;
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and repair issues;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings / weekends and extended hours as scheduled.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift somewhat heavy equipments.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Testing and configuring festival laptops, iPads, cell phones, smart hubs, and printers;
  • Coordinating installation of equipment at festival venues and ancillary offices;
  • Coordinating software installation for festival tablets, phones, laptops and workstations;
  • Arranging for installation of ad-hoc internet connectivity;
  • Assisting with basic end-user technical support;
  • Liaising with the appropriate external support teams and escalating issues in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshooting and researching solutions for basic technical issues;
  • Establishing and maintain an inventory of festival technical equipment and ensuring all is returned to storage appropriately at the end of the festival;
  • Supporting festival venues with IT troubleshooting and solutions;
  • Manage equipment inventory; ensure all equipment is returned, cleaned, and properly stored post-festival.
  • Become well-familiarized with festival venues and their respective box office, network setups, hours of operation etc.
  • Completing a final report to include report on activities in the current year and recommendations for the future
