Title: Coordinator - Emergency Management

The incumbent will collaborate with the Manager, Operations Emergency Management (North). They will develop and coordinate all elements needed to provide support to the Emergency Management program within the Timmins and District Area.

In this role, you will: 

• Develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of Emergency Management (EM) services/initiatives within the areas.
• Build and support a volunteer structure for professional and timely delivery of local disaster response at Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) and community levels in disaster preparedness and response.
• Guide the development of local response processes and team expertise to ensure program adherence to national operational procedures, processes, and accountability requirements.
• Seek opportunities to expand current program delivery (e.g., agreements with municipal governments, growth of community teams).
• Liaise with community agencies/organizations regarding EM related services/initiatives to foster mutual understanding, coordination, and partnership.
• Provide on-site support to maintain the program supplies, assets, and fiscal adherence to the program standards.
• Support the EM program in a variety of roles during response and times of disaster/emergency.
• Support the duty officer role on a rotational basis in the EM program.

What we are looking for: 

• A post-secondary education in a related field.
• A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience as well and experience in managing volunteer resources.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities in a changing environment.
• Strong communications skills in English are essential. French is considered an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills are essential.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborative, team-based environments.

Working conditions:

• Most of the work will be conducted in a clean and comfortable environment.
• This role will require the incumbent to travel domestically (while following public health and organizational safe work policies).
• You can work non-traditional hours and be on-call and respond to emergency/disaster related request.
