Evening/weekend flexibility will be required at times to support program activities

The Community Program Assistant provides the initial interactive experience with persons served through community programs and related services. Serving as an assistant providing administrative and small event coordination for community programs, this role responds to a breadth of needs and requests to support existing programming, and new initiatives at times.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Actively serve the needs of program participants, organizers and leaders to ensure a positive and progressive experience is had by all those interacting with, or on behalf of, a community program
  • Fulfill all administrative and coordination requirements on behalf of programs, including but not limited to scheduling, supply purchases, information gathering, report writing, site/media facilitation, securing required resources, set up/take down, and attendance
  • Maintain, promote, and educate regarding culturally safe interactions, proper privacy requirements, health and social needs components, and foster a connection to the Health Centre through all interactions

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Social Services, Business Administration, Support Worker or a related field from a recognized college or university
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills
  • Time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to be resourceful and take initiative

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Ability to work with diverse communities with respect, sensitivity, creativity, innovation, cultural understanding, and non-judgement
  • Awareness and understanding of the social determinants of health
  • Experience working with newcomer and/or immigrant groups
  • Skills in digital media and technology
  • French and other language skills are considered an asset in supporting the communities we serve
