Fidelis House

Position Type: Part Time, Contract, Remote work environment

Fidelis House is a “home away from home” serving those requiring accommodation near Valley Regional Hospital. We provide a comfortable and warm setting for family and loved ones of patients receiving care in the hospital, and for patients who need treatment on an out-patient basis. We also provide accommodation for medical students training at Valley Regional. Often, patients and/or their families need to travel from other areas of the province to receive treatment, and the cost of accommodation can be a significant burden. At Fidelis House, we charge a modest $25 per night to help make this a more manageable load. Fidelis House is also staffed 24 hours a day with supportive volunteers.

By providing both affordable accommodation and the support of compassionate volunteers on duty 24 hours every day, Fidelis House plays an important role in easing the burdens of those struggling with serious medical concerns.

Our facility currently has 12 bedrooms, with 24 beds, as well as a lounge and kitchen facilities for guests to prepare light meals. We opened in 1992, and annually provide more than 4,000 bed nights for our guests, but the need for accommodation continues to grow. As a non-profit organization, we rely on fundraising to cover our costs.
