Location:  Abbotsford

Job Summary:

The EAL Instructor is responsible for all aspects of the classroom including preparing and delivering settlement language curriculum for adult newcomers; creating a safe and stimulating learning environment; and monitoring learner progress through CLB indicators

Your Role:

 Archway’s EAL Instructor with the Access2English Program contributes by:

  • Preparing and delivering settlement language curriculum with a strong task-based and authentic language focus to adult newcomers while increasing their understanding of Canadian social, workplace, and cultural practices in accordance with Canadian Language Benchmarks.
  • Creating welcoming, safe and engaging in-person and online learning environments.
  • Having a good working knowledge of Archway programs; familiarity with community resources; and ability to make referrals as necessary.
  • Monitoring learner progress through CLB indicators and providing feedback informally on an ongoing basis.

This position is a great fit for someone who has a strong sense of cultural humility, has excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills & enjoys working with learners from all over the world.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university.
  • TESL certification from a TESL Canada recognized institute or clearly documented equivalent.
  • CLB Bootcamp Certification, an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching in an adult ESL classroom.
  • Experience using digital technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • Experience teaching community-based settlement English in a diverse, multi-level classroom, an asset.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • A satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment
