Position Overview:  The Retail Operations Associate contributes to the generation of revenue in support of various CCS programs and activities by assisting in safe and efficient operations and in creating a customer friendly environment.

Position Deliverables/Accountabilities:    Under the leadership of the Manager, Retail Operations (or designate), and dependent on operational needs, the incumbent will be required to participate in some or all of the activities listed below:

Receiving and Processing:

• Welcome donors and assist them with their donations;
• Safely lift and maneuver boxes and bags of donated items up to 30 kilos;
• Sort through donations in a safe manner and evaluate items for quality and condition;
• Price items according to established guidelines and prepare inventory to move to the sales floor;
• Meet assigned production targets for each shift.

Sales Floor:

• Welcome and serve shoppers in a friendly and helpful manner;
• Conduct cash transactions in accordance with Retail Operations procedures while providing efficient and accurate checkout service;
• Promote upcoming sales or special events;
• Maintain orderly sales floor, check out areas and dressing rooms;
• Replenish merchandise following established guidelines;
• Answer customer enquiries (in person and on telephone) in a professional manner as required;
• Assist team with meeting monthly targets.

General

• Assist with opening and / or closing procedures including possibly being a key holder;
• Assists in the orientation of youth and volunteer workers, ensuring they have the required information and knowledge to perform their roles safely and effectively;
• Maintains overall store and personal workspace / equipment cleanliness;
• Participates in regular mandatory staff meetings and trainings as required;
• Other duties as required.

      Qualification Criteria:

• Must have a minimum High School or equivalent;
• Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in receiving, pricing or merchandising;
• Passionate about helping others;
• Effective Communicator; Excellent communication skills with good oral and written English and comfortable interacting with the public;
• Committed to working with a team to build a great customer experience;
• Possess the ability to learn and follow procedures for cash handling, pricing, sorting and merchandising;
• Eye for detail; Dependability; Knowledge of the Not for Profit Sector is an asset.
