To help build on their nearly 50 years of philanthropy – Abundance Canada is now seeking their next Director of Finance.

Reporting to the CEO and part of the leadership team, the Director of Finance provides strategic vision and direction for the financial success of the organization.  As the Director of Finance, you will work collaboratively with the team to further the vision and mission by providing financial oversight, guidance and leadership to the financial operations of the organization.

Position Overview:

  • Work with the Leadership Team to provide strategic vision and direction for the success of Abundance Canada.
  • Review and monitor investment portfolios and work with leadership on developing investment strategies.
  • Develop and maintain investment policies and ensure compliance with existing policies and establish and maintain investment, brokerage and bank accounts as required.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day financial activities that include financial management, fund accounting, reporting, internal controls, audit, investments, financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Maintain, evaluate, and recommend improvements to the accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Work with the Director of Gift Planning to develop new and innovative gift planning strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in the charitable sector with responsibility over fund accounting and investment management, either currently or previously.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in finance or commerce.
  • Progressive leadership experience in finance and accounting roles with demonstrated investment acumen.
  • A collaborator by nature, someone who enjoys engaging and working with others, ideas driven and open to feedback from others.
  • A curious and analytical person, someone who enjoys problem-solving and who has a passion for learning.
