Hope Mission is a non-denominational Christian inner-city rescue mission based in Edmonton, Alberta. Hope Mission also has branches in Calgary, Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, and 2 summer camps.

Job Summary:

Outreach Worker/Volunteer Officer – Contract Full Time (Summer position)

As an outreach worker, you will assist with planning and leading our daily breakfast programs for children and youth in Red Deer Schools. You will support with food preparation, hosting and interacting with students, special events, our food hamper program, cleaning, and a variety of other tasks to serve, strengthen, and uplift children and families.

As a volunteer officer, you will assist recruiting, screening, training, and scheduling volunteers for our after school programs and breakfast programs.

Outreach Worker – Casual

As an outreach worker, you will assist with leading our daily breakfast programs for children and youth in Red Deer Schools. You will support with food preparation, hosting and interacting with students, and a variety of other tasks to serve, strengthen, and uplift children and families.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with planning and preparation tasks for afterschool programs for kids in Red Deer
• Lead games, lessons, and devotions for children and youth
• Assist with meal preparation
• Assist with food hamper building and deliveries

• Assist with set up and cleaning for events and programs
• Responsible for set up and clean-up of program space
• Follow all covid-19 protocols
• Other related tasks and duties as required

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, run and play active sports and games with youth
• Excellent communicator
• Experience working with children and youth
• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Food Safety Certificate an asset
• Standard First Aid certification not required but an asset

Other Requirements:

• Being a Christian organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
• Able to provide Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Intervention Record Check
• Must be able to provide 2-3 references
• Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures
