About the Position:

The Job Developer is responsible for connecting clients with employment opportunities to meet program target outcomes. This position conducts individual career counseling services to support client employment readiness. The Job Developer collaborates with partnering employers to foster beneficial work placements for both the employer and clients. This position is also responsible for establishing new connections for future partnerships.   

Reports to: Program Manager

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and maintains ongoing professional connections with various business and industry representatives to promote the IET program for client placement
  • Collects labour market information for clients regarding job openings, skills requirements, and other occupational information
  • Develops job leads and markets clients to potential employers
  • Creates and maintains connections with employers in creating opportunities for clients
  • Locates work placement opportunities for clients based on their skills and abilities
  • Engages with potential employers and conducts cold calls to develop job placement partnerships
  • Collaborates with employers to create accommodated onboarding plans for clients when necessary
  • Monitors clients’ job performance and coaches clients on performance improvement opportunities
  • Documents clients’ progress, completes reports, assessments, and follows up when necessary
  • Updates employer database on changes to contact information
  • Tracks prospective contacts with new employers
  • Provides written reports regarding clients’ performance and progress
  • Other program related duties assigned by the Program Manager

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Social Services and/or Employment or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) is considered an asset
  • Minimum of 1-2 years related employment services experience
  • Experience in connecting and developing professional relationships with employers and community partners
  • Experience in job development and recruitment
  • Experience working with clients with mental health needs and new immigrants 
  • Experience working with a female clientele is an asset
  • Experience in marketing and promotion (strategies, materials and distribution)
  • Knowledge of employment barriers
  • Knowledge of local community employment resources
  • Knowledge of job development, client placement, labour market information, and wage subsidy negotiation
  • Knowledge of assessment tools

Job Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Additional languages are considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical skills in MS Office and web-based applications
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent conflict management skills
  • Excellent client relations, networking, and outreaching skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate clients to achieve outcomes
  • Ability to work with a diverse clientele
  • Ability to work with private and confidential information

Other Requirements:

  • Criminal Record Check Required
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required
  • Ability to work at multiple locations in Vancouver, and travel to networking events as required
  • Able to work virtually or remotely as required
