Job description:

We are looking to hire a dedicated grant writer to write grant proposals for our organization. The grant writer will write coherent, organized, and compelling proposals. You will apply your knowledge of fundraising methods and plans to reach income goals. You will collaborate with team members in the organization to assist with other fundraising projects and develop relationships with key stakeholders.

To ensure success you need to write well, have proficient knowledge of fundraising methods, and be committed to the mission you are representing. Preferred applicants are deadline-driven team players with outstanding multitasking abilities.

 

We are open to you working potentially Part Time or as an On-call Consultant. 

 

This is a remote set-up OR in-person working at YMHC office at 51 Stuart St. Hamilton, Ontario.

 

Grant Writer Responsibilities: 

  • Developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Displaying adherence to the organization’s mission
  • Maintaining proficient knowledge of the organization’s history and programs
  • Identify grant funding opportunities
  • Write, submit, and manage grant proposals: draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization
  • Track the status of grant proposals, ensuring that client proposals are completed and submitted to funders on-time
  • Submit proposals to ED for approval
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals
  • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities
  • Collaborate with Executive Director to send benefactors newsletters and to promote on-site tours
  • Collaborate with Executive Director to compile an annual report
  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, and financial needs of YMHC
  • Research grant opportunities from government and non-governmental agencies

 

Requirements and skills

  • Proven work experience as a Grant Writer or similar role: Consulting, Grant Writing, or Corporate Fundraising: 2 years (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in creative writing or related field
  • Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals
  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources
  • Exceptional organizational and writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Calendar, Gmail)
  • Proficiency in remote conference softwares including Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet
