The key responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Updating social media properties/posts based on organic and paid social media direction.
  • Gathering information for and then writing and editing communication items produced and distributed by the agency including; agency annual report, newsletters, consent forms etc.
  • Attending community events in the Edmonton and surrounding area to share information about opportunities to volunteer with children and youth.
  • Supporting updates and maintenance of the agency’s web site.
  • Supporting the development of marketing materials related to volunteer recruitment, fund development and programming communications.
  • Walking volunteers through the enrolment process and encouraging them to apply.
  • Delivering messages that promote the need for mentors in the lives of children and youth.
  • Supporting orientation sessions with volunteers related to program guidelines and expectations.
  • Assisting in agency’s volunteer recognition strategies/activities.
  • Working and communicating with other agency departments to support their marketing and communication needs.
  • Completing any required documentation and other required reporting.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Diploma or degree in progress that is in a related field i.e. Marketing, Communication, Business, Volunteer Management etc.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of previous experience in the marketing and/or volunteer management.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design, online video production (I-Movie, etc.), web site development and maintenance.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a passion to speak to others about BGCBigs volunteer opportunities.
  • Excellent computer skills with focused experience in design software (i.e. Adobe Suite, Google AdWords, Canva).
  • Ability to plan and make decisions in a timely, organized and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to speak publicly, whether directly or indirectly (on camera or radio) to an audience.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects using project management strategies.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • A clear Security Clearance Check and Child Welfare Record Check no more than 6 months old are conditions of hire.
