Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the primary responsibilities of this high-response, people centered Employer Liaison

position include: researching employment trends; identifying potential employers and employment opportunities within the all sectors of the CKL region. Assisting unemployed clients with multiple barriers to employment with individualized employment placement services and provision of 1:1 assistance to secure and maintain employment; promoting job search participants to the employer community and liaising with employers to obtain job leads identify jobs and job carve based on specific needs of the client. They will also work directly with job coaches, in collaboration with employers and clients to provide retention results.

They will provide 1:1 counselling and support to assist clients in securing and maintaining employment. They will identify and foster mentors within the job site and/or community. They will be responsible for remaining current on labour market information, salaries, working conditions, motivational/coaching theories and will conduct research regarding current and future job openings within the City of Kawartha Lakes job market. The Employer Liaison will work collaboratively with their colleagues to develop and implement detailed training and employment plans and soft skills training and curriculum development for innovative programming that achieves the highest standards in employment practices. The Employer Liaison will meet one-on-one with clients, as required, to identify suitable employment opportunities and provide one-on-one assistance to the client during their transition to employment. This role will be highly responsive and will provide support to individuals facing barriers to employment. Experience and knowledge working with people with disabilities will be viewed as an asset. When required, they will participate in the service needs determination process, provide case management for a referred caseload, maintain client files, and achieve program statistical goals and targets.The Employer Liaison will also promote to employers access and use of training materials and resources available on the Hub of the Services System Manager (Sir Sandford Fleming College).

 

Primary Functions of this position include:

  • Proactive outreach to employers within all sectors of the labour market to identify opportunities that are not yet available in the competitive job market
  • Working with individuals with disabilities to support them to find and retain employment
  • Support employers to identify skills required and capabilities needed and identify training that is required
  • Provide sensitivity/diversity training, workplace health and safety training and workplace communication training when required.
  • Match employer skills needs with participant’s capabilities and
  • Place clients into appropriate workplaces with and without financial
  • Develop on the job training plans and agreements that are individualized to the specific needs of the client, including the negotiation of financial
  • Monitor placements with employers and
  • Develop a pool of mentors within the community
  • Work directly with job coaches and employers to ensure ongoing support and development for the client on the job.
  • Link participants with mentors and coaches to provide support during and after the job
  • Assess the appropriateness of the workplace and the capacity of the employer to provide a positive work experience and work-related
  • Ensure client and employer information and activity is recorded in CAMs system in timely manner meeting VCCS standards.
  • Conduct client and employer surveys and follow-ups.
  • Attending meetings as required
  • Work as part of a collaborative team
  • Inform the primary ES counsellor of their client’s activities and progress.
  • Knowledge of Service Canada and programs and services
  • Maintain current knowledge of skilled trades and related career pathways
  • Maintain client and employer files as per guidelines
  • Achieve program statistical goals and targets
  • Undertake other tasks as assigned
  • Attend meetings as needed

Eligible candidates must have clean and clear vulnerable sector check and a valid G license
