Summary of Marketing Specialist - Events role:

The Marketing Specialist, Events is responsible for delivering communications and marketing content that supports the success of events, sport tourism and business events. While this role is focused on events, collaboration and projects related to broader destination campaigns and content will also factor into this role. The Marketing Specialist, Events will bring a passion for conversion-focused, data-driven marketing offering a unique mix of creative, strategic and analytical thinking. They will be a publisher and optimizer of events-focused content and collateral and bring a positive and collaborative spirit to the Greater Victoria tourism industry at large.

Primary events this role will be working on include – IMPACT, Stay In Town, and Dine Around. You can learn more about IMPACT here and see how DGV is taking action in our commitment to environmental sustainability in Victoria’s tourism and travel industry.

The ideal candidate for this role would have:

  • At least two years of work experience in a communications/generalist marketing role.
  • A degree or diploma in marketing, graphic design, or another closely related field is preferred.
  • Experience with and technical knowledge of Hootsuite, Wordpress, web design, HTML5 and Drupal preferred.
  • Proficient in a wide range of media formats and design software technologies, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop).
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite – including MS Teams.
  • Diplomacy and excellent communication.
  • Ability to work under minimal direction.
  • A good team player that is solution focused.
