Based at                             :           Hope Mission Bargain Shoppe (South side)

Reports to                          :           Development / Community Engagement Program Manager

Hours of work                    :           Full time hours (between 8:00am to 5:00pm 5 days per week);

                                                         Some Saturdays and evenings may be required

Type of position                 :           Full Time, 40 hours per week

Job Summary:


To oversee and maintain all aspects of Hope Mission’s Donation Processing, which includes all gift processing, tax receipting and acknowledgements. Additionally, the Supervisor will maintain the donor database (Raiser’s Edge) helping to enter and update all data and information concerning Hope Mission donors. The Supervisor is responsible for providing donor care and handling donor concerns by phone as well as the implementation of annual giving stewardship activities through the Gift Processing Assistants.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervises and prioritizes day-to-day gift processing activities and ensures accurate processing and stewardship of gifts.
  2. Supervises and assists in the accurate processing of checks, credit cards, online donations and electronic funds transfers as well as any chargebacks.
  3. Oversee and supervise monthly reconciliation with the Accounting Department.
  4. Work with the Controller to process all Gift in Kind Tax Receipts.
  5. Reconcile iATS payments with our Raiser’s Edge Batches
  6. Assists in handling telephone calls and emails, as well providing excellent customer service to our donors
  7. Maintain up to date knowledge of Revenue Canada requirements for donations and receipts.
  8. Ensure necessary confidentiality of all records and or conversations pertaining to donors and donations and clients of Hope Mission.
  9. Supervise and train Gift Processing Staff
  10. Work in partnership with Major Giving Officer making sure to identify all major gifts.
  11. Oversee the operation, maintenance, data input, data integrity and accuracy for the constituent database management system (Raiser’s Edge).
  12. Prepare consistent bank deposits and make sure that they are reconciled accurately.


  1. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Manager.

 Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • University Degree and/or 3 years of development experience or in a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and decision making ability
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituents
  • Able to lead and manage and mentor a small team
  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced skill in Microsoft Office Programs
