Purpose: Provide settlement and integration policy and research supports to IRCC funded service providers. Enhance the capacity of the settlement sector to deliver settlement and integration programs effectively by creating and promoting capacity-building resources and trainings. The Policy and Research Analyst produces resources for and maintains connections with BC service providers.
Reports to: Director of Programs
Hours & location: 35 hours per week – combination of working from home and working from AMSSA’s office location at 4445 Norfolk Street, Burnaby, BC
Salary: $ 33 / hour – eligible for benefits after three months
Classification: Full-Time Contract; October 1, 2022 – March 31, 2024 with the possibility of an extension pending funding

Works closely with the Director of Programs to lead the research and writing of policy background documents and position papers for internal and external purposes.
Research, understand and organize solutions to and supports for the current and evolving needs of the settlement and integration sector.
Liaise with Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) Advisory Committee members to inform of the needs, realities of Local Immigration Partnerships.
Support in curating and organizing of weekly Settlement Net content.
Leads with creating and writing the content for Migration Matters Info Sheets.
Consult with the Director of Programs and Settlement and Integration Program Manager to develop, facilitate and support meetings, workshops, events, and resources that support the Settlement and Integration sector.
Leads in the creation of evaluation reports and analysis of evaluations for settlement and integration support events and activities.
Coordinates and supports the logistics of the meetings, Advisory Committee meetings, workshops, and other AMSSA events (webinars, talks and conferences).
Write and prepare work plans, agendas, production schedules, evaluation surveys, reports, slide presentations and other documents to be used for meetings, events and resources.
Take minutes for committee meetings including the Immigrant Integration Coordinating Committee Steering Committee (IICC SC) and other settlement and integration support events and support the development of the reports.
Leads in creation, analysis, and reporting of the annual sector survey and results.
Promotes AMSSA’s engagement with researchers and academics.
Supports with overseeing AMSSA’s research and policy related volunteers and interns.
Participate in external working groups as relevant to the settlement and integration sector.
Work with the AMSSA team on additional and emerging projects as required.
University degree (graduate or undergraduate degree) in a relevant discipline, 3-5 years of experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience that is relevant to the field of work.
In-depth critical understanding of theoretical approaches to immigration and migration including: multiculturalism, diversity, social inclusion and social sustainability
Exceptional research skills and creativity in developing learning materials.
Ability to develop surveys then collect, analyze and report on results.
Capacity to research, review and assess various information sources including product information, academic articles, policy descriptions, legal information, media articles, sectoral materials and other related information sources.
Demonstrate the ability to write, proofread and edit reports, minutes, communication materials and proposals.
Ability to organize, prioritize, synthesize, and adapt information to various audiences.
Critical understanding of discourses that relate to immigration, settlement, service delivery and management, policy and legal environments.
Demonstrated experience in communications to inform stakeholders about activities.
Experience in participating on committees and in meetings, conferences, and events
Experience in writing funder reports
Experience in committee meeting and event planning
Experience working with webinar platforms
Detail oriented, highly organized and able to respond quickly to new or changing work demands.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent active listening, interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent time and resource management techniques
Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, database management tools
