After School Club Facilitator (5 positions)

This is a Temporary Part Time (12 hours/week) up to 8 months position.


Facilitators will help children gain valuable learning strategies and help with their academic needs in areas such as literacy, math, sciences etc.  Facilitators will build relationships with children and youth in the community as an after school support and help with homework. Facilitators will have an opportunity to interact with Staff and the public while assisting with a variety of literacy based projects and programs.



  • Under the direction of the Supervisor, Programs and Outreach participates in planning and implementing a quality program for children
  • Fostering the children’s curiosity and facilitating activities based on their interests and needs
  • Building positive relationships with the children, volunteers, library staff, parents, etc
  • Under direction of Supervisor, Programs and Outreach prepare relevant materials for learning
  • Provide input to program goals and objectives as requested by library staff
  • Record participation statistics and provide input to library staff for evaluation report
  • Ensuring the supervision and safety of the children in the program
  • Follow London Public Library’s policies and procedures
  • Other duties consistent with job responsibilities


  • Relevant education and/or work experience, with an emphasis on working with children and youth.
  • Strong communication and reading skills
  • Interest and experience working with children required
  • Experience tutoring considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to work well independently and as a member of the team
  • Enjoy working with others and sharing best practices and lessons learned


  • Must be available to work at a library location 12 hours per week. 3-7pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.




This is an Excluded position from the Bargaining unit.
