The Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Project Aîné·es Déconfiné·es, a joint initiative of the Yellow Door, Groupe Harmonie and the Peter-McGill Community Council, aimed at decreasing isolation of seniors living in downtown Montreal.  

 

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for: 

 

Coordination of Cultural Roulant Deliveries  

  • Work with community partners, local HLMs/other senior housing, and volunteers to ensure deliveries are carried out at the correct time and day each month 
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers  
  • Pick up items from Atwater Library for delivery; drive volunteers to complete deliveries (when needed); collect old items from project participants 
  • Track all library memberships; pay invoices as needed 
  • Store, inventory and organize all items for delivery  
  • Brainstorm creative ideas for new items for delivery; source new/replacement items as needed 
  • Develop and implement creative ways for participants to feel a sense of community while isolated at home 
  • Ensure that current health & safety protocols are followed by volunteers and participants 

 

Coordination of Outdoor Group Activities   

  • Work with community partners to develop and launch schedule of rotating outdoor activities for seniors in the community 
  • Develop creative ideas for engaging activities and groups 
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers and contract staff 
  • Ensure that activities meet project goals of enhancing seniors well-being, breaking isolation and creating community 
  • Ensure that current health & safety protocols are followed by volunteers and participants 

 

Communication 

  • Maintain open and transparent communication with the 3 project partners, working closely with upper management and other staff as needed 
  • Work to develop effective outreach materials; work with other staff and volunteers to implement outreach methods 
  • Communicate with strategic partners to ensure that the services and activities of the project are promoted throughout the community and are visible to the intended audience 
  • Develop engaging booklet, with various sections on health and wellbeing, for delivery to senior’s at isolated at home; create new content as needed 

Admin Tasks 

  • Keep detailed records of all project participants; adding new participants as needed 
  • Maintain records of all existing/new community partners  
  • Work with supervisor to track budget 
  • Record and maintain detailed records of all relevant data for reporting purposes; assist with drafting reporting documents 
  • Work with supervisors to grow and expand the project, as needed; develop plan for project’s sustainability beyond 2-year mark

 

Qualifications 

  • CEGEP diploma or an undergraduate degree in a related discipline, e.g. gerontology, social services, non-profit management, office management, etc.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English and French. 
  • Must be highly organized, able to prioritize and multitask; able to work independently; creative and resourceful  
  • Experience working with volunteers, seniors and/or marginalized groups an asset. 
  • Must be located in Montreal and available to work in person as needed.  
  • Driver’s license mandatory. 

 

The contract is for 24-months, starting September 2022, at $20.00/hour for 15 hours/week (approximately 75% of hours in-person); includes 5 weeks paid vacation, plus personal days and flex time.
