Job Summary:

The Employment Specialist is responsible for assisting clients with the employment search, coordinating and organizing networking events, connecting with professionals and employers to identify guest speakers for information sessions, and seek practicum placements and job opportunities for program participants. 

Your Role:

Archway’s Employment Specialist for the Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants Program (CPSI) contributes by:

  • Liaising with community service providers and other professionals to promote awareness of the Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants Program (CPSI) and facilitate referrals.
  • Assisting with recruitment of potential participants for the CPSI program.
  • Conducting job search and exploring job leads for program participants.
  • Planning, coordinating, and organizing networking events and information sessions by contacting employers and professionals, scheduling events based on employers’ and program participants' availability, booking the venues, providing support during events, etc.
  • Establishing and maintaining a directory of community employers who can participate in program events and/or provide paid/unpaid job practicums, job shadowing, or paid employment positions.
  • Supporting participants with action plans.
  • Maintaining records and notes of participant progress and providing regular updates to the Program Coordinator.

Getting an Interview – You will be considered if you have:

 

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years’ experience in networking, marketing, and organizing events/presentations.
  • One to two years’ employment related experience.

 

The Job Requires you to:

 

  • Be able to communicate with multi-barrier ELL persons.
  • Be adaptable and flexible.
  • Have a valid BC driver’s licence with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Have a reliable vehicle.
  • Obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal records check.
