Context

The Refugee Centre is excited to part with the Public Health Agency of Canada for its newest project: Public Health Promotion & Prevention in Marginalized Communities: Focus on Newcomers and Refugees. The Community Outreach & Research Assistant will assist the project manager in the formation of strong connections with other community organizations to meet the mandate of the project.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain relationships with other community organizations in related fields.
• Outreach to community members to engage them in participation in working groups
• Research pre-existing data related to chronic illness amongst newcomer populations in urban areas.

Qualities/ Experience

• Strong written communication skills required in both English & French
• Spanish, Farsi, Arabic or third language considered a strong asset
• Organized, detail-oriented and takes initiative
• Work in health/community related fields
