Role Overview

The Senior Programmer Analyst is responsible for developing and sustaining databases and software applications to achieve business requirements. The Sr. Programmer Analyst is an integral part of the Business Solution’s team focused on the effective development and support of internal facing applications.

This role possesses a strong aptitude for understanding complex business problems and translating their technical knowledge into practical, implementable solutions. The role contributes to driving high-impact business value, ensuring business application development, configuration, operations, and support are carried out in accordance with business priorities, project plans and IT standards.

Location: Flexible work arrangement policy in place, allows for hybrid environment and remote work. This role can be fully remote, accepting applications across Canada, if candidates are able to meet the needs of the immediate Ontario team.   

This role includes, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for design, development, enhancement, modification and maintenance of the application code and software solutions based on specific business requirements, resolution of product defects, system implementations and ongoing maintenance, as well as documentation and training of the custom-developed solutions.
  • Work with other members of the Business Systems team to deliver and support custom development solutions, systems and processes, the underlying databases, workflows, and server resources.
  • Develops business partner relationships and engages with the business units to identify business priorities that have IT implications or require IT support.
  • Assists the Senior Manager, Business Systems with resource planning (e.g., annual business plan, hardware, and software forecasting).
  • Evaluates business processes and recommends viable options that improve business performance, efficiency and minimize risks that may impact daily operations and the organization overall. 

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in IT, Programmer roles
  • Excellent knowledge of MS SQL Server and MS SQL Server Integration Services
  • Experience with Net development: C#/VB.NET, .NET Frameworks 3.5 – 4.8, .NET Core
  • Strong knowledge of Visual Studio 2017-2022 and knowledge of working in a team environment: TFS, GitHub 
  • Experience with creating reports using SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI
  • Experience in XML and web development:  HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Bootstrap, Windows Power Shell and Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent knowledge of MS IIS
  • Good understanding of Agile as well as other project management methodologies
  • Familiarity with CRM (e.g. Blackbaud), Financial systems (e.g. Unit4), CMS
  • Experience with SharePoint development
  • Familiarity with Office 365 Apps: Power Apps, Forms, Power Automation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills, documentation, and ability to work in teams and/or independently
  • Communicating effectively with users and vendors
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
  • Experience in developing applications for the non-profit sector is an asset
