Role Overview 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, the Executive Director, Digital Marketing will be responsible for leading, shaping and executing Diabetes Canada’s organizational and campaign level digital marketing strategies to support brand, mission and fundraising pillars. This role works closely with cross functional teams across the organization and will involves the management of multiple projects. They lead, manage and support the digital marketing team and oversee the performance and development of three direct reports. This is a contract role to fill in for a parental leave.
Contract Duration: 
13-14 months 

Location: Flexible work arrangement policy in place, allows for hybrid environment and remote work. This role can be fully remote, accepting applications across Canada, if candidates are able to meet the needs of an Ontario-based team.    

Key Responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Develop leading edge strategies to expand our reach, impact and quality of digital stakeholder engagement
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute digital campaigns that align to Diabetes Canada’s strategic priorities, compliance, brand and digital channel requirements 
  • Develop, implement and oversee an annual business plan and budget for this portfolio
  • Manage and develop Diabetes Canada’s Digital Marketing team, including coaching and performance management
  • Serve as Diabetes Canada’s internal subject matter expert on all facets of digital marketing, acting as a strategic partner and educator to internal counterparts
  • Manage relationships with digital marketing agencies, freelancers, third party partners and suppliers
  • Manage, compile, review and assess digital analytics and campaigns 
  • Define, track, communicate, and improve upon key performance indicators 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to digital marketing 
  • Assure compliance with all organizational, security, and regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive senior experience in marketing with 5+ years channel experience in web, email, social and 5+ years of people management experience
  • Post-secondary education with a focus in communications, marketing, or related discipline
  • Significant experience developing and managing content or digital marketing teams in fast paced evolving organizations
  • Significant experience leading large-scale projects and integrated, multi-channel digital campaigns
  • Ability to influence and work closely with cross functional teams
  • Passionate about the digital marketing landscape and a strong knowledge and understanding of current trends, platforms, and measurement tools
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects deadlines gracefully, fostering teamwork amongst colleagues
  • Familiarity with not only how to use CMS, Email, Analytics and Social tools, but a solid understanding of the value and opportunities each of these deliver
  • Exceptional eye for detail, design, usability, and great problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
