What’s the job?
We are looking for a Kitchen Coordinator who will assist in the day-to-day operations of Parkgate Society’s services for seniors. This position assists both in making and serving food from the community kitchen and in the planning, developing, implementation, and coordination of various programs and services for seniors. The position also contributes to the overall effectiveness and success of our services for seniors so they can live life better.
What will you do?
Coordinate all food services for seniors and ensure the commercial kitchen is properly cleaned at the end of each service session;
Organize the planning and execution of regular meal programs and special events;
Ensure commercial kitchen is well stocked and ready for food preparation;
Provide direction to the volunteers through training, scheduling, and the assignment of tasks to ensure programs are provided with necessary support;
Supervise volunteers with menu selection, meal preparation, meal service, and kitchen clean-up;
Assist with monitoring program effectiveness and adjust programming content as required;
Ensure program rooms are set-up to serve the programming and participant needs;
Ensure proper room take-down and clean-up is done in accordance with current health and safety requirements;
Build and maintain relationships with senior program participants and address any questions, suggestions, concerns, and complaints when and if they arise;
Assist with advertising and promotion of seniors programming at Parkgate Centre;
Ensure program and organization standards, guidelines, and policies are maintained and that all licensing requirements are being met;
Maintain appropriate records and statistics and make sure all required documentation is accurate and complete
Be prepared and willing to perform other duties and responsibilities based on program needs.
Who are we looking for?
Experience with seniors’ programs and services in a community-based organization;
Experience with restaurant or commercial cooking is preferred;
Ability to plan, prepare, and execute a meal service program;
Working knowledge of not-for-profit and community-based organizations;
Ability to build relationships with seniors and have knowledge of issues specifically affecting seniors;
Strong interpersonal communication skills;
Demonstrated teamwork, facilitation, and leadership skills;
Flexible and adaptable to change;
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team; and
Ability to work effectively with program staff, volunteers and non-profit or publicly funded groups and agencies.

$20.00 - $21.00 per hour plus a generous benefits package.
