BGC South Coast BC has an opening for a Youth Outreach Counsellor position at our Annex program in Delta. If you have experience working with youth (preferably with youth at risk in an outreach service setting), have a passion for supporting and providing opportunities for youth in overcoming barriers to thrive and grow, we would love to hear from you.
Summary of Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Senior Coordinator, Youth and Family Counselling, the Youth Outreach Counsellor provides intervention and transition support services to youth who are at risk of justice involvement, homelessness, sexual exploitation, or other risks.
The Youth Outreach Counsellor supports youth in identifying, understanding, and overcoming personal/family problems, and in establishing and achieving realistic goals. Building relationships and working with other service providers is an important aspect of the job. The Youth Outreach Counsellor works with youth who are in crisis situations, and services are offered at times and locations where vulnerable youth congregate. Due to the availability and needs of the youth, work will often need to be conducted outside normal office hours.
This is a full-time salary position ($47,775 to start), with group benefits at six months, pension after one year, three weeks paid sick leave in first year, paid sick and personal leave, birthday off and up to 5 days statutory holiday substitution days per year to celebrate/recognize religious, cultural, and/or personal days that are important to the employee where those days are not currently recognized as statutory holidays in BC/Canada).
