Overview

Nightwood Theatre is currently seeking a full time Producer - Partnerships and Giving, to support their deep passion for the performing arts and intersectional feminism through producing, including seeking resource opportunities through partnerships, grants, individual donors, etc. The successful candidate will be responsible for the devising and implementation of Nightwood Theatre’s fundraising strategies.

You are organized, thrive on challenges, have strong collaboration and interpersonal skills and are motivated to produce events and campaigns to reach the financial goals put in place in collaboration with the Managing Director, Artistic Director and the Board of Directors’ Development Committee.  

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Researching and connecting the numerous programs and projects at Nightwood with appropriate resources, including individual, corporate and foundation support.
  • Envisioning and executing Nightwood’s seasonal Individual Giving and Corporate Campaigns, involving prospecting, acquisition, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Overseeing and implementing special donor stewardship events that deepen connection to our values and activities.
  • Spearheading Nightwood’s main fundraising event, The Lawyer Show, including working with the Lawyer Show Committee to solicit, acquire and steward the silent auction, sponsors, ad sales and 50/50 Lottery License. 
  • Ensuring the timely completion of tax receipts, in accordance with Canadian Revenue Agency legislation, including recording all donations and stewarding member benefits, as well as timely donor recognition.
  • Working with Nightwood Theatre’s Board Development Sub-Committee to ensure Nightwood’s annual fundraising objectives are met.
  • Providing financial reports as it relates to fundraising events and donor solicitation.

Skill Requirements:

  • Ability and enthusiasm for producing events and campaigns, including soliciting donations from individuals, the corporate sector, and private foundations.
  • Capable of navigating different personalities and respects the different ways in which people prefer to receive their communications and information. 
  • Exceptional people skills to deal effectively with different stakeholders.
  • Proven writing skills for crafting compelling donor letters, appeals, invitations and other communications.
  • Excellent and engaging phone communication skills.
  • Shows initiative and is able to meet deadlines and handle concurrent projects, with a strong track record of fulfilling commitments. 
  • Thrives working both independently and as a team member.
  • Possesses the ability to learn the financial management skills required for this position (including departmental budgeting and tracking). 
  • The ability to learn to navigate our CRM, and tax receipt procedures and legal requirements. Nightwood uses Canada Helps Donor Management Software (DMS) - working knowledge is an asset, but is not required. 
  • Demonstrates a high proficiency in Google Suite apps (Sheets, Docs, Slides). 
  • Nightwood provides a Mac laptop to employees. Familiarity with the Mac OS operating system is beneficial but not required.
  • Detail-oriented record keeping. 
  • Interest in and capacity to learn about laws, regulations and ethical principles relevant to this position.
  • If newer to fundraising, an enthusiasm for participating in Nightwood funded professional development with a giving specialist. 

Compensation Package

Salary: $50,000-$53,000 annually

Employer-paid medical and dental benefits included after 3-month probationary period.

Work Mac laptop, alongside a cell phone stipend for the use of a personal device. 

 

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. The position allows for flexible working hours and hybrid (remote and in-person) working environment, with some requirement to attend internal meetings. There will be requirements to work flextime with evening and weekend work, as the position demands.

Employee’s vaccination status must be up to date before joining the team. Please note all team members are asked to wear a respirator style mask while indoors working together.

Nightwood currently works both in person and remotely. Priority will be given to applicants based in the GTA.
