What you’ll be doing:

 

The work of the LED Department is focused on developing a thriving local economy where individuals, businesses, and community flourish within a robust ecosystem. We achieve this goal by delivering formal programming, microloans, working at a systems level, and developing networks, all designed to achieve community impact. We use business and economic development tools to achieve social change. We meet participants where they’re at and support them to explore and build businesses all along the spectrum from a solopreneur to a social enterprise.    

 

Our programs are emergent and dynamic. This position is responsible for actively participating in our ongoing program design work and facilitating the Self-Employment and Business Feasibility programs. It includes all aspects of the program cycle: marketing, intake, design, delivery, reporting, and evaluation.

 

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Program promotion and recruitment
  • Business training and facilitation
  • Program design and iteration
  • Evaluation and reporting
  • Departmental, organizational and community involvement 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Facilitation of LED business programs and supporting participants through the business modelling process
  • Develop mutually supportive relationships, networks, and partnerships within the community.
  • Strive to ensure that Program outcomes, as stated in the program logic models, are closely monitored, and achieved.
  • Work collaboratively with LED Department team members to provide smooth transitions between business programs and services (e.g., business training to loans, or business training to Be Local

 

What you will need to do the job well:

  • You have post-secondary education in a related field, such as business, entrepreneurship, social enterprise, social innovation, adult education, and/or finance.
  • You have delivered/facilitated programs for both in person and online delivery
  • You understand business models, cash flow, and financial statements
  • You have excellent technology literacy, utilizing modern tools for collaboration, communication, and efficiency.
  • You love sharing business knowledge, experience and ideas with others using engaging and inspiring techniques.
  • You thrive in a collaborative team environment, where everyone is pulling in the same direction to achieve a common goal.
