The HOPE Program offers emergency housing and transitional housing support to female survivors of Human Trafficking. This voluntary program offers survivors a safe and therapeutic environment where they can work on trauma healing and building independent living skills. The program directly supports youth by providing mentoring, crisis counselling, case management services and life skills workshops in a respectful, peaceful and caring environment where they can get the support they need in order to achieve their goals.

 

Reporting to the Manager of HOPE Program, the Team Lead will execute and oversee the day to day operations of the HOPE Program in accordance with regulatory requirements; 360°kids’ policies, mission and objectives; including overseeing a team of dedicated Youth Workers to deliver sound and innovative programming for survivors of Human Sex Trafficking.  In addition, the Team Lead will directly support all youth in the 360°kids’ apartments and provide mentoring, informal crisis counselling, case management services including appointment accompaniment, and life skills workshops and other supports needed in order to achieve their goals.

 

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Leadership and supervision of a motivated and dedicated staff team and volunteers, including recruitment, training and development, coaching and mentorship, to ensure program success while positively contributing to 360°kids as an organization.
  • Oversee the operations of apartments (adhering to licensing requirements, monitoring health and safety of apartments, implementing house rules, abiding by policies and procedures, responding to crisis situations and other duties as required).
  • Conduct intakes and assessments with referred program participants to determine eligibility for the program.
  • Using a trauma informed approach, provide individualized assessment and flexible case management services to survivors of human trafficking living in the apartments as well as those who have transitioned into independence.
  • Encourage and support clients to secure suitable housing within the community and assist youth to access various community programs regarding housing, mental health, etc.
  • In the event of a crisis or critical incident, exercises judgement and initiative in managing contact with management and necessary emergency services.
  • Act as a positive role model and advocate on youths’ behalf.
  • Ensure key relationships with funder(s), collaborative partners, and others having impact on the program.
  • Maintain positive relationships and interact with various segments of the community including York Regional Police, CAS, Victim Services, peer mentors, client family members, neighbours and Property Management personnel. 
  • Represent the organization and the HOPE Program at various collaborative tables across the GTA, regulators and the general public and deliver presentations and program tours as required.
  • Along with the Manager of HOPE, provides leadership for the HOPE program in team building and motivation of employees, manages for high performance and oversees plans for the training, development, and retention of HOPE staff to ensure ongoing effective and successful management of the program.
  • Provide reports and related information as required to the Manager of HOPE, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies and ensures staff completes mandatory recording and reporting, including statistical reporting.  
  • In conjunction with the Manager of HOPE, assists in the sound financial management and appropriate controls of the program’s budget and provide leadership to the team and direction with regard to financial management of the HOPE Program’s budget.
  • Positively contribute to 360°kids as an organization.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

   This is a 12 Month maternity leave contract role, with possibility of extension.

 

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

CYW Degree/diploma or a related Human Services discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience and three (3) years’ experience working with at-risk youth; experience with youth involved in the sex trade industry and/or human trafficking an asset. Heightened awareness of homelessness, trauma informed care, mental health, abuse, and addiction issues amongst youth.  Leadership skills including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring, empowerment and demonstrated initiative. 

 

The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth; knowledge of relevant legislation and a strong understanding of Human Trafficking and case management principles.  Demonstrated client focused counselling skills and role modelling a must; lived experience is an asset.  Candidate must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.  Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, crisis management and conflict resolution. A broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and make professional referrals. The ability to lead collaborative tables and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders including program funders.

French language fluency is an asset.  

 

The HOPE Program offers emergency housing and transitional housing support to female survivors of Human Trafficking, candidates identifying as female will be given priority.

 

Must have: Current first aid/CPR certification, current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check), car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and $2 million liability insurance.
