The Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO) is Ontario’s largest municipal sector professional association. The Association is seeking an experienced, creative and forward-thinking individual who would be excited to help build upon AMCTO’s reputation of organizational excellence through the position of Coordinator – Communications & Marketing. The candidate will be supporting AMCTO’s communications and marketing efforts by helping to coordinate and implement content development, design and digital strategies across the Association’s various portfolios and programs. The successful candidate is social media savvy with established and emerging platforms who can follow and track analytics and new trends to support engagement. They will also be successful at collaborating with team members and external stakeholders to drive positive member experiences and Association policy and advocacy campaigns.


Reporting to the Manager – Communications & Marketing, the candidate will be responsible for:


  • Contributing to and supporting implementation of communications and marketing strategies:
    • Creation of basic design and digital assets including but not limited to social media, email and website graphics, promotional video content
    • Creating, formatting, proofreading, editing and distributing the Association’s communications materials including eblasts, news releases, articles, briefs, speeches, newsletters, presentation materials, website and social media content, video content
    • Coordinating and updating content on the Association’s website
    • Working with external vendors to coordinate design and issuance of promotional materials for Association programs and services
    • Identifying and recommending improvements regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of the Association’s communications and marketing activities
  • Working with the Manager, Communications and Marketing, assisting in the coordination of the Association’s communications calendar and annual outreach initiatives
  • Collecting and reviewing communications and marketing metrics and social analytics for compiling related communications and marketing reports
  • Coordinating and executing communications and marketing deliverables for the Association’s exhibitor and sponsor programs including pre-event communications and administration, on-site trade show administration, creating post-event fulfillment reports
  • Coordinating and proofreading content for the and AMCTO Municipal Monitor publication


Candidates for this position should possess:


  • Post-secondary education in communications, marketing or a related discipline supplemented by public relations and/or customer service training
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a communications role either in a creative agency, Association or non-profit setting
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills
  • Experience in the following: communications and marketing content creation and development, graphic design, website and social media management
  • Experience with editing videos for the web and social media
  • Experience with using design and video software or tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
  • Experience with website CMS and CRM member databases (e.g., Drupal, iMis)
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, SEO, email marketing software (e.g., Informz, Constant Contact, Mailchimp), social media analytics, basic knowledge and understanding of HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with CP style
  • Must be a team player who enjoys collaborating, creative thinking and working across multiple programs and projects at a time
  • Must be a self-starter with a desire to learn about the Association’s key audiences and stakeholders
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of adaptability, problem solving and professionalism


Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:


  • Experience with conference/tradeshow coordination
  • Experience working with external vendors and sponsors
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager, Google Ads Manager, and paid social
  • Experience with project management tools and software


The starting salary for this position is within the range of $59,000 - $74,000 depending upon skills and experience. Pension (OMERS) and benefits are also part of the competitive employment package. AMCTO has a hybrid environment with a mix of remote and in-office work.
