About the Role

 

carya is searching for a Grants & Donor Relations Specialist who will expand carya’s grants and donor relations efforts and play a vital role in advancing organizational development efforts. Reporting to the Director of Social Investments, this individual will leverage their superior communication and organizational skills to enhance donor relations and secure grant funding. Key responsibilities include:

What You’ll Do

  • Establish and oversee a comprehensive grants calendar which includes qualified public and private foundations and granting prospects that align with organizational priorities.
  • Lead carya in researching, qualifying, and applying for suitable grants and giving programs.
  • Oversee donor database. Ensure all donors are recognized and that data is hygienic and being effectively captured in accordance with CRA guidelines.
  • Initiate database processes and procedures to operationalize efficiencies and to identify prospects and seek out opportunities to grow and engaged lapsed donors.
  • Support organizational annual fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the creation and implementation of a Donor Stewardship Matrix including the writing, development, and distribution of stewardship materials.
  • Engage and develop relationships with service clubs including but not limited to Rotary, Clubs Lions Clubs, Kinsmen Clubs, Optimist Clubs etc.
  • Coordinate corporate engagement opportunities such third-party fundraising initiatives and volunteer opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed targets pertaining to grant applications, donor stewardship and cultivation efforts, and revenue goals

What You Bring

  • Superior written communication skills; ability to convey complex stories in compelling ways.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; an ability to develop rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management, organizational and prioritizing skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative and active team player.
  • Experience with Donor Perfect or similar fundraising database.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or a combination of education and experience including a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience of proven results in fundraising and grant writing.
  • Adherence to a high ethical standard and Donor Bill of Rights.
  • Must have access to a vehicle.
  • CFRE designation is an asset.

The Grants & Donor Relations Specialist will receive a comprehensive total compensation package including:

  • Annual salary of $55,000 - $67,000
  • Employer paid premiums for extended health benefits and 50/50 share of dental premiums
  • Up to 7% RRSP matching
  • Annual Health Spending Account
  • Three (3) weeks paid vacation pro-rated to start date and eligible for use in the first year of employment
  • Monthly Personal Time Off (PTO) day
  • Paid office closure days between Christmas and New Year
  • Discretionary Day of Observation each year for use on a day that is of personal significance
  • Access to bereavement leave
  • Agency provided property as needed by the role
