Aboriginal Counseling Services is looking to hire a part-time facilitator position for the Women’s Circle of Safety Family Violence program.

 

Three hours per week co-facilitating the Circle of Safety on Tuesday evenings from 5-8pm, plus occasional meetings.

Purpose:

The Circle of Safety for Women is a culturally based, psycho-educational Circle. A team of facilitators works to provide support, education and treatment. The Circle operates from a Teaching Circle perspective which honours the women as both teachers and students in their own journey. Each Circle is 20 weeks in length and includes topics specific to domestic violence and parenting when there has been domestic violence.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in frontline work and group facilitation is essential. 
  • Knowledge of intergenerational trauma and family violence dynamics is also an asset
  • Degree, diploma or equivalency in the human services field
  • Must be willing to work within a strong team environment.
  • Self-identifying with Indigenous ancestry is an asset.  Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, customs and beliefs would be beneficial
  • Recent Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check prior to employment
  • All candidates will be obliged to comply with ACSA’s Mandatory Vaccine Policy, as a condition of employment
