Still Moon Arts Society inspires a vibrant and connected Still Creek ecosystem and community by creating art, nurturing a passion for nature and celebrating the relationship between people and the land. They do so through their ecological arts and environmental stewardship programming, prioritizing equity-deserving communities, community engaged ecological art projects, and founding festival, the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival.

The Role:

The Operation and Fundraising Director co-leads the organisation with the Artistic Director and reports directly to the Artistic Director and Board of Directors. The Director oversees Finance (budgets, financial protocol and systems), Operations (system development), Human Resources, and Fundraising (individual donors, grant writing, philanthropic giving). The Director supports Marketing and Programs in planning, goal setting and logistical requirements. The Director supports employees providing direction/delegation, performance reviews and logistical support. The Director’s actions and work align with the values of the Society, and supports in executing the creative vision of the Artistic Director.

 

The responsibilities of the Operations and Fund Development Director are as follows:

Revenue Generation

  • Write and execute annual fundraising plan (philanthropic and public sector)
  • Manage donor fundraising, philanthropic giving 
  • Oversee and spearhead public and private grant writing for the organization; write operating grants and support/guide program grants
  • Complete final reports, including cash flow funder sheets; support program managers in submitting program specific final reports   
  • Liaise and build relationships with funders and organizational partners 
  • Generate long-term fund development plan with the goal of increasing annual Operating funding through the creation and expansion of funding opportunities and partnerships
  • Oversee earned revenue-generation initiatives
  • Guide creation of Annual Report

 

Financial Stewardship

  • Create and manage annual operating budget providing continual assessment of budget strengths and weaknesses
  • Support and oversee program budgets made by Program Managers
  • Initiate and conduct financial processes as defined by the Society: sign monthly reconciliations, update and review budget as scheduled, send reports as required   

 

Operations and Day to Day Management

  • Suggest and implement systems to optimize processes 
  • Support Marketing and Program Managers in program evaluation and program plan development 
  • Oversee logistical aspects of programming and marketing ensuring annual activities align with funded projects
  • Guide CRM implementation and website development
  • Liaise with Bookkeeper on a regular basis 

 

Human Resource Management

  • Coordinate onboarding and off-boarding employees, maintenance of human resource-related documentation
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and performance management, in collaboration with Artistic Director 
  • Oversee HR Policy and policy updates as needed 

 

Governance & Planning

  • Report to Board of Directors for areas of oversight: Finance, HR, Operations & Fundraising 
  • Support Artistic Director and Board to create annual and long-term goals 
  • Participate in strategic planning

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years in a leadership role, ideally in nonprofit arts or environment management
  • Competent in JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) principles; communication and actions aligned 
  • A keen interest in the intersection between art, community and environment
  • Experience supervising and guiding teams
  • An excellent writer and editor: experience in grant writing and donor fundraising
  • Experience developing organizational operating budgets; knowledge of GoogleSheets, required 
  • Experience developing and implementing systems and plans
  • Experience supporting and guiding HR, an asset 
  • Experience with CRM Management, an asset

Job Summary:

Required: Personal Computer and Phone

Salary: $ 58,000 – 63,000
