Associate Director, RG Plus
Full-time, Contract (14 months)

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is a leading international authority on responsible gambling—providing insights to industry stakeholders through its research, advisory services and problem gambling prevention programs, as well as accrediting responsible gambling initiatives to gambling companies across the globe. Based in Toronto, RGC operates independently from the gaming industry, allowing it to offer unbiased insights and services related to responsible gambling.

As a senior leader in the organization, the Associate Director, RG+ has a passion for supporting safer gambling practices across Canada and globally by contributing to responsible gambling research, best practices, and consultancy services. The Associate Director, RG+ is responsible for leading the overall management of RGC’s advisory services and its core products including research, evaluation, training, program reviews, and player education. This includes overall responsibility for RG+ strategy development and implementation, revenue growth and diversification, promotion and marketing of advisory services, budget development, innovation and leveraging cross functional relationships.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates exemplary leadership and people management skills, possessing strong skills in coaching, mentoring and motivating a diverse team. The candidate is able to work collaboratively and effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and demonstrates excellent client management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the strategic development of RG+, RGC’s consultancy and advisory services
    • Lead the development and implementation of the RG+ strategy in consultation with the CEO, Executive Management Team (EMT), and RG+ team
    • Identify and execute strategies to grow and diversify RG+
    • Oversee annual business planning and budgets
    • Liaise with external stakeholders and clients to cultivate relationships, identify opportunities for business development, and provide expert advice
    • Regular reporting to the CEO and Executive Management Team
  • Staff management and development
    • Motivates, mentors and develops members of a high-performing team
    • Guide staff in the development of annual employee performance goals, support ongoing professional development, and provide regular feedback
    • Identify opportunities to support team culture building and collaboration
    • Contribute to and lead cross-functional teams
  • Oversees the management and administration of all Research and RG Plus projects
    • Ensure projects are high quality and delivered on time, within scope, and on budget
    • Directly supervise the Manager, Operations and Development, who is responsible for the administration and project management of all aspects of the Research and RG+ projects
    • Provide oversight of the development of statements of work and proposals,  and project execution
    • Identify and manage risks and opportunities; troubleshoot when necessary
    • Work closely with members of the RG+ team and the EMT to improve program efficiencies
  • Leads and directs training and other RG+ product lines
    • Create and promoteRG+ product offerings, with a particular focus on global training services
    • Directly supervise all training projects with direct oversight of specialized staff
    • Identify opportunities for business development and strengthening current partnerships
  • Member of the Management Team
    • Contribute to the advancement of RGC’s broader strategic plan
    • Support organizational culture building
    • Contribute to the implementation of RGC’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy
    • Other related duties, as required.


Required Skills and Education:

  • 7+ years success in a project management, client relations, and people management
  • Exceptional leadership skills, empowering staff and creating a positive working environment
  • Strong collaborator.  Builds positive, sustainable relationships within the organization and with external stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial experience and mindset to lead the implementation of the RG + growth strategy to advance business development
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Innovative strategic thinking, assessing and decision-making skills
  • Attention to detail, sound judgement, tact and diplomacy are essential
  • Experience working with the gaming industry and/or knowledge of the responsible and problem gambling field
  • Excellent marketing and sales skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Embrace diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to use and manipulate data through Excel software
  • CRM software exposure would be an asset


Annual salary for this position is $95,000 - $113,800 commensurate with skills and experience, plus excellent benefits. 

RGC has COVID-19 protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of our staff. Due to the impact of COVID-19, RGC has been working remotely since March 2020, and is transitioning to a hybrid work environment.  The successful candidate will be expected work in the Toronto office when needed.
