Generation Chosen is a non-profit organization devoted to enhancing the emotional intelligence of young adults from underserved communities. Through openly confronting mental health obstacles, dealing compassionately with harmful emotional tendencies, creating opportunities for educational matriculation, financial self-sufficiency, and meaningful mentorship, we aim to holistically support the development of those most vulnerable in our society and interrupt inter-generational cycles of poverty, disenfranchisement and trauma.

 

Role Description:

 

The Content Creator & Marketing Assistant supports Generation Chosen’s Marketing department to enhance the organization’s in person, online social presence, promotion of our programs and events. The role also includes finding new ways to enhance relationships with stakeholders and community members. They will assist with tasks related to content creation which includes but is not limited to: capturing images and video, video editing, organizing images, brainstorming and executing ideas for social media content. This role is based in Toronto.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and/or capture content for the organization's social media accounts. Create engaging content for all platform’s multiple times a week (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn); Use tactics to grow followers, stay updated on new updates and changes to platforms.
  • You are self-directed, well-organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You enjoy all things social media and know how to edit photos and videos that can be shared across various platforms;
  • Use graphic design skills to create flyers, infographics, and other marketing materials
  • Assist with tasks such as research, sourcing content, and writing.
  • Assist in planning engaging content to capture and highlight the organization's various programming activities; catalog photos and videos from the field, on our Google Drive Account.
  • Assist by supporting the marketing department and overall efforts in further developing the brand
  • You have a passion to make a difference and maximize programs and the organization's exposure;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop content creatively and efficiently for digital and other communication channels such as blogs, social media, and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Some experience in design and the ability to use graphic design platforms to create promotional material (Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office etc)
  • Some experience with video editing applications platforms and executing video content 
  • General understanding of Social Media Analytic platforms
  • Strong interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, ability to work on multiple tasks, proven organizational and time management skills
  • Creative and innovative thinker with an ability to adapt to social media changes and trends
  • Ability use appropriate tone and voice across different platforms 
  • Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Interest in giving back to the community by working in the non-profit sector

 

Location: Toronto, GTA 

Reports to:   Director of Marketing 

Hours of work: ~10-15 hours/week

Compensation:   Stipend
