About the Role
CASA Mental Health is an established non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally-safe wrap-around mental health services to Albertans and their families. CASA provides mental health service to the missing middle – mental health treatment for diagnosed children and youth, in between prevention and promotion in primary and community care, and acute treatment in hospital.
CASA’s team of mental health professionals are trauma experts committed to delivering service in collaboration with community partners. This includes assessment and treatment for up to 4,000 children, youth and their families each year, from community outreach settings to intensive treatment programs.
Job Description

The Professional Development and Education team is a collaborative inter-professional group that works to build capacity in mental health services providers through coaching, mentoring, education and consultation. The team supports service providers both within CASA and in Northern and Rural Alberta. The Mental Health Consultant will:
Create education and training materials for learning events, through working collaboratively with the other consultant team members.
Deliver education and training events, both virtually and in-person.
Support the development of knowledge and skill, by coaching individual performance in the delivery of mental health supports and services to children and families.
Provide advanced advice/input, treatment direction or alternate perspectives to professional colleagues using a consultative model. Topics may include assessment, diagnosis, treatment plans, discharge planning or potential referrals.
Act as a resource to team members and regional service providers on issues related to specific areas of expertise.
Support the development of mental health knowledge and skill by mentoring new children’s mental health therapists. Coaching and mentoring activities may include:
Joint assessments;
Co-therapy in individual, group or family sessions;
Observing practice and providing non-evaluative, non-supervisory feedback;
Reviewing taped therapy sessions;
Assisting clinicians in completing self-assessment of learning needs and developing a learning plan.

Maximum Salary: $56.15
Hours per Shift: 7.25
Shifts per Week: Monday to Friday
Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
Qualifications
Graduate degree in psychology, occupational therapy, nursing or social work (psycho-social intervention designation is required).
Must be a member in good standing with their respective professional association/college.
A minimum of five years of direct clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
Demonstrated superior competence in children’s mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment
Demonstrated competence in presentation and facilitation skills in a group setting.
Enhanced skills in knowledge translation and education, program design and evaluation and adult learning principles are desirable.
Ability to work autonomously, independently and to prioritize work activities.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work within a team environment.
Demonstrated leadership ability, with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in all aspects of the discipline including clinical practice, supervision and education.
