Position Summary:
Pacific Community Resources Society seeks a part-time Family Support Counsellor specializing in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder/Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions (FASD/CDBC). The Counsellor and Parent Support Program supports Surrey-based families with youth aged 12 to 18 with confirmed or suspected FASD/CDBC. Program staff provide participants with education and information specific to the needs of the child and family and offer emotional and practical support. The Counsellor strive to empower the family to become their own best advocates for their child. They provide regular parent/caregiver support groups and community-based training on FASD/CDBC. Understanding Indigenous Cultural Safety, family and community systems, family counselling and advocacy skills are essential. Flexible hours may be required to accommodate family support needs and group meetings.
