KidSport Edmonton is a local non-profit-organization that has been in the community for over 25 years. Running a fee assistance program called KidSport’s ‘So ALL Kids Can Play!’ Grant Program, subsidizing sport registration fees for kids who come from families that face financial hardship.


Role Overview

You will serve as an essential member of The KidSport Edmonton (KSE) Team, prioritizing and managing competing responsibilities connected to both internal and external sides of the organization. The Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day management of KSE’s operations and will have an overall strategic and operational responsibility for all deliverable programming as well as managing staff while implementing strategic initiatives.

  • Hours: up to 25-30 hours per week
  • Pay: $28.00 per hour
  • Benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation, free parking, laptop plus other necessary technology, flexible work schedule, $20 monthly cell phone subsidy and $150 annually to put towards professional development


Accountability, Reporting & Evaluation

  • This position is accountable to - and on a weekly basis - reports directly to the Executive Director
  • This position is evaluated by the Executive Director on an annual basis



  • Staff & Program Management
    • Oversee day-to-day operations by managing and organizing the efforts of the departments under your responsibility ensuring deliverables are carried out efficiently and effectively.
    • Lead direct reports to deliver outstanding work, be an approachable resource, provide coaching
    • Support members of the KSE team by ensuring they have what they need to succeed
    • Identify, monitor, and analyze performance metrics to implement the identified areas of improvement with departments
    • Adhoc work with other departments to ensure organizational efficiency & deadlines are met
  • Revenue Management
    • Maintain Donor database
    • Manage & support with donor partnerships & stewardship plans, ensuring deliverables are met
    • Identify grants to apply for and monitor application and deliverable timelines
    • Manage bi-annual Casino i.e., file/report all casino documents with AGLC, etc.
    • Support Third Party fundraisers that require the set-up of 50/50 raffles
  • Reporting & Financial Management
    • Report information from the front-line team to the Executive Director
    • Support with year end and adhoc organization and donor specific reporting
    • Prepare data for financial reports, ensuring accuracy for the Board and/or other stakeholders
    • Support departments with year in review content
    • Track and report on the progress of the annual strategic plan implementation
    • Monitor department budgets against actuals and identify areas that require attention
  • General Organizational Management
    • Manage increasing segments of operational requirements
    • Ensure appropriate technology systems and controls are implemented throughout the organization
    • Identify best practices and improve systems, keeping future needs and budget realities in mind
    • Attend monthly Board meetings & annual strategic planning session as minute taker
    • As required, develop, and implement policies and procedures to optimize operations
    • Support Executive Director adhoc with hiring and training new employees
    • Support Executive Director adhoc on leadership pieces i.e., HR & organizational planning
    • Build and maintain strong external partnerships
    • Professionally represent KSE in all outward facing roles incl. events, workshops, conferences, etc.



  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 10 years of experience in senior organizational management
  • Preferred: Experience with DonorPerfect, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft 365, Google and Rafflebox
  • An Asset: Six Sigma Certificate

    • Relationship builder with interpersonal skills, who values collaboration and has the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence" with all groups including staff, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other stakeholders, with the goal to efficiently implement program strategies.
    • Exceptionally strong project management skills, organizational skills, administrative skills, communication skills and strong ability to multitask while managing a highly productive team
    • Experience in scaling up organizations; capacity to enforce accountability, develop & empower leaders from the bottom up
    • Self-starter & hard worker who enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives while also looking for challenges; able to act & react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation& take unpopular stands when necessary
    • Strong passion for sport and physical activity with an understanding of the local sport system
    • Understanding of the issues and opportunities regarding the participation of under-served populations in sport
    • Passion for KidSport Edmonton’s mission
